The story behind Goomena.com
Goomena.com is a patent pending online dating site that has come to change all you knew until now about dating. However, behind Goomena.com, as it usually happens with all business innovations, there is a very personal story that inspired it!
It all started when, one of the creators of the site, then 35-year old and upcoming web-businessman, signed a very promising business deal. Right after the first excitement passed, he realized that financial and professional boost came with a remarkable price… He worked – happily- so many hours that he had no time to go out, have fun or enjoy anything else beside his office…
Having great taste in women and high expectations when it comes to dating, he started looking for the ideal woman through chatrooms and various other social media. This is how he entered the wild adventure of online dating…
After a great number of successful and – to be frank here- even more unsuccessful first dates and having wasted a lot of his precious time, he would have quit the pursuit of the “perfect woman” through this method, if it weren’t of a very certain aspect that had stimulated his mind.
He found out that the women that he thought as beautiful women – the young, very beautiful, groomed, cultivated and kind women – were looking for a man with the exact same profile that he had: successful, generous and with high expectations.
Furthermore, many of these women confided in him that they had wasted a lot of their time and money (in taxi , clothing and everything else a first date demands) in dates that turned out to be with men that were after all very, very far away from the profile they had described themselves with.. This is why our businessman, trying to prove his generosity and the fact that he actually is what he says, suggested compensating every woman for the time she would spend with him.
His investigation ended when Luck and Cupid smiled at him big time and he met his soon to be wife during one of his lasts dates.
But the idea that had started growing in his head wasn’t to be abandoned after he found what he himself had been looking for: he now wanted to share his personal success with the rest of the people and try to unify those two worlds that seemed to be made for each other but have great difficulties in meeting each other;

The rest of the story is, as they usually say, history; when our businessman shaped his team and the rest of the circumstances were right, Goomena.com could move from his imagination to the internet’s reality.
And because many people- and for good reason- are wondering about the origin of the site’s name, there is an unknown, juicy story there as well. That one happened some years ago in Greece, in a very popular island / touristic paradise to be precise, where the businessman enjoyed his summer vacations. It was there were he befriended a Greek guy, who would say to him each time they wanted to step out: “lets go meet Gomenes, which is the Greek equivalent for “hot girls”.
The funny and interesting sounding word stuck in his head for years, and at the right moment – during the brainstorming session he had with his team about how to name their new site – his old Greek friend’s saying popped out his mouth and seemed perfect for the occasion!
Furthermore, as a tribute to the origin of its name, Goomena.com has a whole team which focuses on the Greek market and was translated into Greek from the very beginning.
